Tallahassee H.O.G. Chapter History

In 1983, Harley-Davidson officially started the Harley Owners Group, signing 33,000 new members in the first year.  Staging two national rallies the same year, one in Reno, Nevada, and a second in Nashville, Tennessee, H.O.G. officially started a "family" of motorcycle enthusiasts that is still growing today.

On March 25, 1986, Tallahassee Harley-Davidson officially sponsored the Tallahassee H.O.G. Chapter #0737.  We reached out to several Charter members of our H.O.G. Chapter since we were unable to find newsletters, pictures, or any historical info for the first five years of the Chapter.  According to our Charter members, the Chapter began forming in early 1991.  The Chapter members first met at the Pizza Inn on West Tennessee Street.  The second "official" meeting was held at the Holiday Inn at the corner of Magnolia Drive and the Apalachee Parkway on April 6, 1991.  Click on the picture to the right to see the group picture taken at that meeting!

Scott Higginbotham acquired the Tallahassee Harley-Davidson dealership in the year 2000 and had a new building constructed in its current location at I-10 and Capital Circle Northwest.  The building looks very much like the Old Capitol in downtown Tallahassee!  Many thanks to Scott for his support of our H.O.G. Chapter over the years.

In October 2012, one of our members was working on a home improvement project and discovered that his customer was a H.O.G. Charter member.  He happened to have a stack of original Tallahassee H.O.G. Pen newsletters from 1991 to 1999.  You can find these historical newsletters on our H.O.G. Pen page.

In August 2013, the Ferman Motor Company acquired Tallahassee Harley-Davidson.  While our H.O.G. Chapter basically remains the same, our Chapter number changed to #3414.  We appreciate Ferman allowing us to continue to have our monthly Chapter meetings in the dealership warehouse and continue as a sponsor of our Annual Toys for Tots Ride and other events throughout the year.

On March 25, 2016, our H.O.G. Chapter celebrated its 30th anniversary!

In March 2020, Kevin Lytle acquired Tallahassee Harley-Davidson. Kevin also owns Gainesville Harley-Davidson. Our H.O.G. chapter basically remains the same but our chapter number has changed to #4755. We appreciate Kevin Lytle allowing us to continue to have our monthly Chapter meetings in the dealership warehouse and continue as a sponsor of our Annual Toys for Tots Ride and other events throughout the year.

We have dug deep into our H.O.G. Chapter history to find many pictures and articles from past rides and events, including The Enthusiast magazine shown to your right (click on the link or picture to read the magazine).  We hope you also enjoy the historical treasures of our past in the links below.
